Chiropractic treatment

We welcome people new to chiropractic and those who understand the benefits of maintaining a healthy spine and nervous system. Our aim is to get you out of pain, to regain your optimum health and, crucially, to maintain it.

The British Chiropractic Association defines chiropractic as:

a primary health-care profession that specialises in the diagnosis, treatment and overall management of conditions that are due to problems with the joints, ligaments, tendons and nerves of the body, particularly those of the spine.

Treatment consists of a wide range of manipulative techniques designed to improve the function of the joints, relieving pain and muscle spasm. Chiropractic does not involve the use of any drugs or surgery.

Now, in plain English, that means that chiropractors are experts in the care of the bones, nerves, muscles and connective tissues that make up about 60% of your body.

The term 'chiropractic’ comes from the Greek words chiro meaning 'hand' and practikos which means 'to practise'. So chiropractic means 'to practise by hand.'

And, indeed, that’s what we do. The main chiropractic technique is to very accurately and gently manipulate, or 'adjust', the spine using our hands to improve the efficiency

of the nervous system and release the body’s natural healing ability.
